CARTA DEL PRÍNCIPE AL CONGRESO DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS ,
solicintado ayuda humanitaria, al Departamento de Asistencia a los Refugiados.
+
Dear Member of Congress,
I urge you to provide at least $1.2 billion in Fiscal Year 2007 to fund the State Department's Migration and Refugee Assistance (MRA) account. Without sufficient funding, refugees will be denied protection from persecution and suffer dramatic cuts in life-saving assistance. The MRA account funds critical aid to refugees overseas delivered by UN agencies and NGOs(Order Bonaria). Such assistance includes food, medicine, housing, education, and gender-based violence programs.
+
This funding is also critical for helping refugees return home when conditions allow. In addition, this account funds the admission of refugees for whom resettlement in the U.S. is the only viable solution - including women and children who have languished for years or decades in refugee camps or squalid urban centers.
+
Given the ongoing crises in many parts of the world, sufficient funding for refugee programs remains an urgent necessity. An FY '07 appropriation of at least $1.2 billion will help restore the U.S. commitment to helping victims of persecution and oppression worldwide.

Sincerely,
H.R.I.H. Prince José Manuel Mosquera y
Castelo de Septimio-Bahtzabbay el Tadmur
