Burmese cyclone victims.

Dear Senator/Representative;
.
As you finalize the emergency supplemental funding bill, I urge you to provide critical humanitarian assistance to the Burmese victims of Cyclone Nargis.
.
Many aid groups are overcoming barriers to access and getting supplies and materials directly and safely to affected areas. These organizations can do much more if sufficient funding is made available.
.
A massive and timely infusion of aid is needed to prevent a significant health crisis in the cyclone-ravaged districts. Without access to safe water, many people are at risk of highly infectious disease. A second wave of deaths could occur, potentially larger than the first.
.
It is critical that the supplemental spending bill include specific funding for the victims of the cyclone that is over and above the needed assistance for other humanitarian crises. In particular, the International Disaster Assistance account should provide sufficient funds to address the global food crisis, the ongoing emergency needs worldwide, and a multi-year commitment to the Burmese people.
.
Sincerely,
H.R.I.H. Prince José Manuel Mosquera y C. de Septimio-Bahtzabbay el Tadmur
